Startup events are happening all over Calgary's startup community this April.

Featured Event

Breaking Bread with Founders and Funders

Presented by Startup Calgary and The A100

This invitation-only event consists of two dinners over the course of 5-6 weeks, providing opportunities for entrepreneurs to learn first hand what local investors seek when investing in startups and their founders. 

Sitting down and breaking bread together is a great way to forge a new relationship long before the talk of deal flow becomes a reality. 

Each cohort will consist of 8-10 founders and 4-6 funders. Selected entrepreneurs agree to:

- Once ACCEPTED register and pay the $50 event fee
- Participate in the two designated dinners 
- Provide a minimum of one investor update during the cohort 

In turn you receive: 

- The opportunity to build relationships with local investors 
- Gain knowledge of investor reports, what is required and how they use them 
- Two full course dinners including beverages 

Startup Calgary is currently accepting applications for the first cohort May 30 & June 27.

Applications close Tuesday April 25th. Selected founders will be contacted no later than Friday April 28th to confirm participation.

Startup Calgary in partnership will Alberta Innovates presents a 3 hour introduction to Lean Startup methodology. This session is lead by industry expert David Bocking, Technology Development Advisor for Alberta Innovates.

David will guide you through the various steps within the Business Model Canvas including, value proposition and customer discovery.

Want a Shot at Winning Free Workspace for the Year?

Showcase your start-up to more than 100 leaders and mentors in business, tech and politics!

On May 11, 2017, Regus Canada, the flexible workspace provider is opening its 100th Canadian location in Calgary and is seeking start-ups who want to demo their products. Interested start-ups must have a minimum viable product in order to participate.

Each start-up and will be given an opportunity to talk about their product with guests who will vote on the best business pitch. The winner will be awarded free workspace in a Calgary Regus centre.

The Accelerator is currently accepting Canadian technology startups for their second batch of startups beginning in May.

The Accelerator brings the methodology of best in class Silicon Valley startup accelerators to help startups get to the next step. RentersEdge.ca, aggregates rental home listings from a number of Alberta rental sites to let tenants find their next rental home faster.  Instead of searching across many rental sites and keeping track of the leads from each one, tenants can search the largest database in Alberta and let the RentersEdge.ca remember your favourites.  The site lets you see listings on a map or a list and gives popular filters like "Neighbourhood", not available on every site.  With over 17,000 listings to search in Calgary alone, you can be confident you are seeing just about every listing out there.

advertiise, a Canadian adtech startup, has officially launched its evolutionary new platform, an online advertising marketplace that connects local, national and global buyers and sellers of advertising space. Anytime, anyplace and at any budget, buyers and sellers can access an inventory of traditional, digital and unique advertising opportunities. The platform already has more than 3,500 users and the marketplace boasts over 6,000 listings in more than 34 countries.
