Over 220 members of Calgary’s startup community gathered at Pitch Night on Tuesday, October 18 at the Glenbow Museum to listen to pitches from Calgary’s 16 semi-finalist startups. Attendees voted for the following Top 10 startups who will showcase to over 700 community members at Launch Party 2016 on Thursday, November 17 during Global Entrepreneurship Week:
advertiise is a platform that enables global buyers and sellers to buy and sell advertising space.
Gifty gives customers the chance to send a retailer’s product as a digital gift that can be redeemed in store.
instaMek provides simple and convenient auto repair at your doorstep.
Interface Fluidics Limited is a laboratory service company specializing in microfluidics for oil and gas.
MycoRemedy uses a novel fungi-based technology to restore polluted environmental sites.
Paper uses artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure to automate milestone legal events and everyday functionality.
Red Iron Labs is a development studio specializing in virtual reality with dark immersive gaming.
Spot is an app that connects dog owners to insured, bonded, background checked and trained walkers.
TasteTro an innovative culinary company with a small connected kitchen appliance delivering mouthwatering spice blends at a touch of a button.
ZayZoon provides a responsible alternative to payday loans.
Companies received pitch coaching from local startup advisors and mentors including Andrew Browne, Co-founder of TikTiks and Startup Calgary Board Member; Stephen King, Founder of Stephdokin and CMO4Hire; Sean Languedoc, COO of Payload; Matt Mastracci Founder and local A100 member and Brian Reimer, Founder of Knelf.
Through the Launch Party startup program, the Top 10 startups will be connected with investors, mentors and other VIPs that can help them take their growing companies to the next level. These startups will also be eligible for awards that will provide additional opportunities and increase exposure in Alberta and beyond.
